Starting University

Next year I will be at university studying a degree. But before that I must decide where and what to study. It may seem quite easy but it isn't at all. And I know that I am not the only one with doubts about my future. So I have decided that I would post my opinion about this issue in order to help you as much as I can.
At the time of going to university there are many things you should take into account:

1. Do something you like:
    • This is the most important thing. You have to choose something you really like, because that choice will in certain way define your future.

    • Nowadays there are lots of options and degrees to do. Dont worry if you do not have anything crystal clear yet. I'm sure you will find something you like!!
2. Be realistic:
    • We have to take into account which our capabilities are. You can not aim to be a doctor if you can't see someone bleeding; or aim to be a pilot if you are afraid of heights or you do not have enough qualification to do it.
    • Also, you have to be aware that jobs as writer, painter, singer and actor/actress are jobs that require being excellent and have contacts. I am not telling you not to do that if this is really your dream (I am the first one who would love being a singer haha) But what I can assure you is that not just by being a singer you are going to success. It is very difficult, but do not stop trying if it is what you really want. Just be realistic about it.
3. Don't let other people tell you what to do:
    • It is only your choice and you have to do what you like, because you are the one that will study that degree. You can not decide your future based on everything that your family/friends told you. Of course that they can guide you, and you should take in to account what they tell you, but the final decision should be yours and only yours.
4. Don't be afraid of studying in a new city:
    • Sometimes you need to move to another city to study at university, but that should not take a step back. This is an oportunity to meet new people and live new experiences.
    • Besides, you maythink that you are not going to make any friends and you will be alone the whole time. Well, that is a BIG BIG lie. You will meet many people and make a lot of friends. You just have to overcome your shyness.
Those are a few tips that you should follow at the time of starting university. I hope this was helpful.
See you soon
xx
