MAROON 5: "V-Tour" (Madrid)

12:00

Hi there! First of all sorry about not being around here for the last couple of weeks. I've been finishing my university exams and that took all of my time (Although I have two more exams to go).
But I am here now to share my experience at the Maroon 5 concert I attended last Monday 15th of June.
I have to say a lot of things about this concert so keep reading haha. I was so excited when I found out that Maroon 5 was coming to Madrid. I have been a fan of them for a very long time. Besides, as you may know from my "TOP 3: Musical TV Shows" post I love The Voice and Adam Levine is a coach of the US edition. This concert was a gift for my birthday (which was back in October, but I decided to wait till now), so I've been waiting for a long time.
To be honest I have to tell you that I have mixed feelings about this gig. My friend and I had floor tickets so we decided to be outside the venue at 1 p.m. even though they didn't open the doors till seven. This past week the weather in Madrid has been crazy. It was raining the whole time and then it changed and the sun came out and it was so hot, so waiting outside the venue wasn't a good thing.
At 4 p.m. someone decided to start running towards the front door and the order in the queue was completely lost and we stayed 3 more hours standing waiting for the venue to open their doors. And that is all due to the bad organization planned for the event by the Barclaycard Centre.
Once we went into the arena my friend and I managed to get a very close spot next to the stage but once again the organization and security of the event were there for nothing. Around the area that I was anyone was able to breathe due to the huge amount of people there that were pushing toward the stage in order to get a better place. So the people at the front rows (as us) could not breathe.

The first opening act began, It was Nick Gardner. I did not know anything about him before the concert but he is quite good. I would compare him with a young Olly Murs. I liked the cover he performed of Madonna's Like a prayer. Moreover, the guitar player was soooooo hot. I know that his name is Mike and I instantly fell in love when I saw him.

Then, the second supporting artist came to the stage. It was Magic! I am sure that you have hear of them or at least you have heard the song "Rude" or "Don't kill the magic" They were quite good. They sing this kind of pop music with some influences of reggae although they are from Canada. I enjoyed both of those performances and the short cover of Take me to Church. On the other hand during a song that I didn't know I started to get very anxious because of the lack of air we had in there. The security of the venue had to take me out of the crowd and they took me to the paramedics where they checked if I was okay and they tried to calm me down. I stayed there for a few minutes and although I was worried and shocked all I could do was look behind the stage to check if I could see something interesting. After a couple of minutes I went back to my spot in the crowd and I enjoyed the rest of Magic!'s concert.

Around 9:30 p.m. Maroon 5 came to the stage and the concert started. At the beginning I could not enjoy it as much as I would like, because of what happened before but then we started to have more space to move and dance and everything was great. The music was amazing. The voice of Adam was impeccable and completely perfect. They did 17 songs and I particularly loved "This Love", "Sunday Morning", "She will be loved", "Payphone" and "Sugar" although all of them were incredible!

Being completely honest I was expecting a funnier Adam Levine. I've seen how he is in the voice and he is a quite funny guy, but at the concert he didn't talk to the audience or show a little bit of affection or something. He just came to the stage to perform their songs and that's all. I do not know if it was a bad day for him or something but I certainly was not expecting that.

At the end I had a very good time but it was a very tough beginning to a concert. What upsets me the most is that a few years ago here in Madrid in a Halloween Party where Steve Aoki played happened something horrible where some young girls died because of the bad organization of the event. And from then they have tried to make these kind of events safer but in this case they didn't tried at all.

To conclude I have to say Maroon 5 you were awesome. But Barclaycard Centre, you definitely should be more careful with these events.
By the way, I attended with my good friend Aisha, you should definitely check her blog (link in my favorite blogs section).
Thanks for reading, see you very soon ^^
